the big guns are comin out
i actually got an assignment done. i had nine days notice. the assignment was done within five. it took about 90 minutes. the product was three minutes of video. i am actually quite pleased with it. there’s something about just sitting there and soaking in the images.
something important happens tomorrow. there will probably be some sort of confusion, maybe some last-minute changes. however, things will run smoothly in the end. everyone will get their speaking done, we will dismantle equipment, and go home. i just hope everything goes fine back where i was supposed to be.
the sabres revealed their new logo and jerseys on saturday. i am not fond of the logo. the jerseys have grown on me a bit, but i’m still weary of them. the center ice logo looks dreadful. however, this will in no way effect the fantastic hockey the team will play this season. i am looking forward to it.
time warner has removed the nfl network from our area’s cable lineup. the excuse is that the nfl network deal would cause a small rise in cable fees for everyone. time warner does not want to raise cable rates for everyone in order to carry a station that only some customers actually watch. they want to put the nfl network on a sports special-interest package for digital customers.
well, why not drop lifetime and put that on a women’s special-interest package? why not drop country music television and put it on a music special-interest package? why not drop fox news and put it on a news special-interest package? we have four news channels, four music channels, and two christian channels; among others. we also have two shopping channels and four channels which show infomercials 80% of the time. at times, the canadian networks may have their feeds cut and replaced by shopping television feeds; supposedly because they go “off the air” for periods of time. if that’s true, then how come i’ve seen late hockey games cut out in favor of shopnbc?
cable rates are going to rise anyways. bite the bullet and pick up nfl network, time warner. for once, i’d like to see other subscribers pay for a channel i like rather than my family paying for their stupid shit channels. then again, it’s probably only a matter of time before we go to satellite…
the bills spanked the dolphins today. defense was huge. i wonder, though. was it a matter of a dominant bills defense or mike mularkey’s frilly limp-shit offense not working? speaking of offense, i’d still like to see some more aggressive calls when the bills have the ball. my “what the fuck” bursts are down, but i’d like to see them decrease further.
tonight we sleep. tomorrow, we dance!
actually, i don’t dance.
taking a breath of sanity
just kidding.
beware the mascots. it’s too bad, really. i think adrian macpherson is really fun to watch.
i really dig assemblage 23. it’s energy-packed music, at a time where i’m severely lacking.
monday came and went. in between there was a lot of running around. i actually had some fun wading in the chaos, until my head and legs decided to weigh in with their respective opinions. let’s also refer back to an old entry. just one or two parts, really.
football season starts soon. it’s going to be interesting. i’m excited to see how things will go. on all fronts.
this is the snippet of time during which i can relax. at 1230 there is a class. after class, there is work. after work, there is food. after food, there is sleep. maybe some madden first, if time and energy permits. gotta keep things simple, you know.
in the very near future, i will rearrange my schedule to allow for some cushy time on days like this. unfortunately, i have to wait for tomorrow before i can pull the trigger on anything. i can’t believe i thought i could get up at 9am and run around for barely a credit. i’m silly.
in some rare moment of brilliance, i actually thought up a cool design for a web page. i may revive the old Cwebsite if for no other purpose than to show off this design. or i might try and learn wordpress and see how i could implement this design into that. or i may do nothing with it and never speak of it again. it is pretty cool, though. it bears a slight resemblance to the old “go” button design from long ago. i’m not telling you more, because you might steal it. *shifty eyes*
i wouldn’t mind buying a camera and going on a photography spree. but there’s no time right now. perhaps as autumn approaches we will see this come to light. autumn is, in my opinion, the most beautiful season anyways. people see everything going to sleep around them. i see a new pallette of colors and ideas.
i should go fishing sometime soon too. that would be a nice break. it’s been a little while since i last went, though the real problem is i can’t seem to find a reel. perhaps it’s time for a trip to the sporting goods store. or maybe i’m just making excuses to buy freeze-dried ice cream. mmmmm, sugary styrofoam.
i’m surprised at the number of hits this page has gotten from people searching for “techno” or “robots.” also, i was shocked to find that TRP was listed as a “featured blog” on wordpress.com’s list under the “sciences” tag. with a post from july 4! this isn’t quite a sciences blog, but okay– cool. i’m chalking it up to my silly wierd tag names.
just goes to show that TRP has an expanding influence on irrelevance. now i’m off to make me an irony sandwich.
a pocketful of things to throw at you
well, it has finally rained. i like rain. shut up, fools.
alright, go get the album by Matt Mays and El Torpedo. also the new Alien Ant Farm release. methinks it’s more dynamic than truANT. alas, no ANT gimmick this time. shedding label influence? perhaps.
i’ve forgotten how much i enjoy around the horn. woody paige rocks. chalkboard slogans for life!
clerks 2. will i go see it? eventually. am i concerned about joel siegel’s ruckous about it? no. do i think the whole thing is hilarious? yes. is kevin smith playing around with this for publicity? yes. can i blame him? no. c’mon, why would you take this shit seriously? it’s just a goddamn movie.
it’s not like he’s out murdering people. though there is a movie about that too….
random anthem
so apparently diving is all the rage. i love how the only pro sports championship i’ve been satisfied by is pittsburgh’s. forza what, sucka? forza what? forza diving!
back in my day, you could roam the pitch with a hacksaw in one hand and a bottle of jack in the other. if some fucker tripped you, the ref would grunt approval while you cut his toes off or smashed the (hopefully) empty bottle over his head. now if the guy behind you so much sneezes you can roll over twice and flap your arms while screaming like a schoolgirl and he’ll get carded. i’ve seen better acting out of keanu reeves, for christ’s sake. and he’s practically a roman column.
my oh my, what else can i complain about? well, for one, my headache. and for another, why the hell am i still awake? damn you, internet!
go see this movie when it comes out. it’s about the singer of a band that is very dear to me. this man was not only the template for cobain, but the essence of what good rock could become. the events after his death would contribute to a revolution in the world of music. i expect this movie to be a look at the life and death of someone who sometimes falls in between the cracks of rock history. hopefully it will do for his band what walk the line did for johnny cash. it is unlikely, but joy division showed us that even the unlikely should still be considered because it is there that the clearest insights can sometimes be found.
calendar marks
today is july 4. happy birthday USA.
i like fireworks. apparently not as much as my neighbors down the street. the persistent rumbling and squealing has created the illusion that oprah is on their lawn- and she is having serious bowel difficulties.
now i recall why fireworks of that type are illegal in this state.
also, italy beats germany. go winner of portugal vs. france, though it’d be a pity if i had to root for france.
i’ve also succumbed to the fever and purchased an xbox 360. while my television is “standard” definition (as the quality snobs say with increasingly condescending tone) i have had the pleasure of playing with the system on my parents’ high-def set. the games look impressive regardless of the display method, and i’d even go so far as to say that the high definition look is better but not necessary. call this student of video a heathen if you will, but i don’t really care.
i think the high-def spec is yet another excuse for people who have nothing better to do to masturbate over trivial aspects of image quality. it’s like the “audiophile” who brags about how his indie music is stored on his computer in 320kbps ogg vorbis format. fuck you, i can sometimes tell the difference between a 320kbps ogg and 128kbps mp3 (given the right songs), but who the fuck cares? go back to having arguments with people on wikipedia. jackass.
